Welcome

You are visiting the website for the Ottawa Tech Softball League, a league that has seen teams playing softball in Ottawa's West end area for more than 25+ years. Our season runs from May through the middle of September with games played Tuesday thru Thursday on diamonds in the West end. Games are played at 4:45pm and 6:15pm each evening with teams playing once a week normally.

In March and April of each year, new players who are interested in joining teams are welcome to give us their contact details. As team captains indicate they need players, we will offer them your information so they can contact you about their team. Please come back to our website in March and April if you thinking about trying to find a team to play on.

Feel free to visit our site to learn more about the league. You can also use our contact page to send us any questions you may have about the league. Someone will get back to you within 72 hours with an answer.

Website Enhancements - Updated: 30 Apr 2012

Game submission now updated to reflect current requirements. To submit a game result (or to request a reschedule), please following these steps:

  1. A team contact must login to the site. If you are properly recognized as a contact, you should see a Team Actions section in the contextutal navigation on the left side of the screen.
  2. Choose report game result. Navigate through the calendar to find the game you wish to report/reschdule.
  3. Click on the game in the calendar and the game form will come up. If the game was played, you need to report the score and provide a Sportsmanship Rating for your opponents. Optionally you can provide Sportsmanship Comments and/or Game Comments. The Sportsmanship Rating and Comments will not be shared with the other team while Game Comments are meant for general items (e.g. field condition, reporting a medical matter, equipment problems, rule query, etc).
  4. If you wish to have a game rescheduled, select the appropriate checkbox and provide a suitable reason. The non-essential fields for requesting a reschedule will disappear from the form.
  5. When you are happy with the results, press Submit Results. The system will send public information entered about the game to both teams and private info (e.g. Sportsmanship) to the submitting team only.

Either team may report the score of the game. If you just wish to report your Sportsmanship information or Game Comments, you use the same form as for reporting the score. You will NOT be able to submit the form without a score for the game. Please be aware that Run Differential, Runs Score or Runs Allowed do not factor into any tiebreaker formulaes in this league. So while we'd like the correct score to be provided, it isn't critical that the score be exact. As long as the winning team has 1 more run than their opponent (or both teams scored the same amount for a tie), that is sufficient.

For the moment, rainout games are rescheduled manually so there may be a delay in us responding with a new game date. However, any game rained out on a Tuesday may be rescheduled as early as the Thursday in the same week if an appropriate open slot exists. We may schedule this way so that teams have a chance at a game a week and avoid two or more games in a week.

If you have questions or problems with submitting game results, please contact us at the webmaster email account.

To view some content on the site, you must have created a web account on the site. People should register for their own accounts and not used a shared one for the team. You can update your account details through the website as necessary.

Spare Players Welcome

Players who are looking to join a team in the league may post their information on the spare players list. You can register individually or one person can register a group of interested players who would like to play together. To register, select Register from the top menu.

Interested players should review the league information to ensure they understand the league format and structure, especially when and where games are played.
